graphic: materials day 2006, october 11, materials: science to systems. how we made the future--and what's next?

As the MPC moves beyond its 25th Anniversary, it is appropriate to reflect on some of the past accomplishments of the materials community, assess the current state of and opportunities for our field, and speculate a bit about the future and how we may be able to shape it. We will examine R&D from the context of the new cycle of knowledge creation and the role of industry and government in both supporting its creation and leveraging it forward into useful technology.
